Henrico, Va. — John Reid, Republican nominee for lieutenant governor, launched his Workforce Freedom Agenda today, a three-part initiative to eliminate bureaucratic roadblocks, defend the right to work, and make it easier for Virginians to get to work and stay there.
“Too many Virginians are being blocked from working not because of a lack of skill or desire, but because of outdated red tape and political agendas,” said Reid. “My Workforce Freedom Agenda tears down those barriers and puts the needs of workers first.”
The Workforce Freedom Agenda includes:
- Universal License Recognition: Allows individuals with valid professional licenses from other states, including in healthcare, education, and skilled trades, to work in Virginia without unnecessary re-certification delays.
- Defend Right to Work: Opposes any effort to repeal Virginia’s Right to Work law, which protects workers from being forced to join or financially support a union as a condition of employment.
- Workforce Mobility Reforms: Streamlines credentialing for military families, career-switchers, and people re-entering the workforce to accelerate opportunity without sacrificing quality.
“Our economy should be built for real life and that means breaking down the walls that stand between qualified people and a good job,” Reid added. “Richmond’s job is to get out of the way and let Virginians work.”
